The Alternative Biblical Counseling Ministry…
Helps provide answers for people struggling with real life decisions. Our goal is to reach individuals who are contemplating abortion or homosexuality and are not aware of their choices. We provide compassionate, non-condemning, listening ears and in return speak God’s truth about these issues.
Like an emergency line, our job is to be the first point of contact for those seeking help for people looking for advice about pregnancy and homosexuality.
From there, our biblical counselors will connect those individuals with local churches or Christian-centered organizations in their area. We will also inform these local outlets of those same individuals to ensure that the nurturing of sound advice and decision-making continues for each of our callers. We also offer resources on our website that can point people in the right direction.
Our Mission
To offer biblical advice to men and women concerning pregnancy and homosexuality and connect them with a local Christian church or organization that can further help them in their walk. Whether or not they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we seek to encourage all people to do the right thing. We seek to reassure people of the truth that God does love them and through Him all things are possible, no matter how difficult the situation.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a 24 hour, seven days a week national hotline that offers biblical advice to people struggling with decisions about pregnancy and homosexuality.
Our hotline will be stocked with counselors who are members of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors.
Those counselors will meet our callers where they are by first addressing the immediate concern of pregnancy or homosexuality and in turn using that as a springboard to introduce or re-introduce callers to Jesus Christ.
The Need for Alternative Biblical Counseling
In 2008 California voters were asked to take a stance on two major moral dilemmas: abortion and gay marriage through Propositions 4 and 8.
Proposition 4, the Abortion Waiting Period & Parent Notification Initiative, also known as “Sarah’s Law”, would have prohibited un-emancipated minors from obtaining abortions until 48 hours after parents had been notified by a physician. Unfortunately Proposition 4 was narrowly voted down with 52 percent of Californians voting against the parental notification, while 48 percent favored parental notification.
Proposition 8 also came to a close vote. The initiative, which sought to ban gay marriage succeeded with 52 percent of the vote. But with 47 percent disapproval, it’s clear that the state is just as divided on gay marriage as it is abortion. In fact, Proposition 8 is still in heated debate. In August 2010, the measure was overturned in a San Francisco Federal court, but is currently set for appeal in December. And while the state, and arguably the country, has stepped to one side or another, as Christians we must remember that true victories are not won in a voting booth. While political participation by the Christian community is necessary, our true battle lies in people’s souls.
In the midst of this political fight, there are people’s lives and souls at stake. Girls who are pregnant may be wondering if they have any alternatives to abortion and need real resources. Homosexuals who are wondering if there is a way out of their current lifestyle need more than a ban on gay marriage, they need real answers and loving support. What is their alternative?
